G A Y A T R I
"Of all
the eulogies (mantras) I am the Gayatri," Krishna testifies in the
Bhagavad Gita. This is one of the most ancient invocations to the Radiant Light
(Bharga) of the Cosmoplasm, that Great Being behind the physical Sun, who
underpins life in the Solar System. The timeless pilgrim appeals to the Solar
Logos in order that its shining Light may awaken within him the element of
buddhi (the principle of unity, the essence of wisdom) so that he may know the
part of Truth that corresponds to him, i.e. the work (dharma) he needs to
perform in the larger plan for the redemption of the world.
This queen of the eulogies (mantraraja) is timeless and universal as with
simplicity, lyricism and clarity it points us to the Supreme God as well as the
way (which is the revelation of truth and service) in which we can connect with
Him.
